About

The Abolitionists

THE ABOLITIONISTS have an integral message they would like to convey to the masses. That message is to "abolish musical mental slavery to uplift the massive to help them achieve oneness through tough riddims and vocals." The Abolitionists' jazz, ska and reggae influences combined with the fresh addition of Jah Ras Danielion on vocals and guitar create an exciting roots/rocksteady/reggae sound that is easy to listen and dance to. Other musical influences in the band come from greats such as Peter Tosh, The Skatalites, The Slackers, The Ethiopians, Yabby You and Bob Andy. Members of the band have recently finished recording some video and audio tracks with Chris Murray and Sam Tallo (from King Apparatus) at CBC Radio Sonic in March of 2002. Check out some of these tracks on the Victoria Ska Festival web-site (www.victoriaskafest.ca) Notably, some of the members have also been offered support for future endeavours by members of the Slackers.
