Event Description

. Thursday, August 2nd IMU presents SEE SPOT RUN w/ GLIM PROJECT TOUR KICK OFF & TENANT @ The Lamplighter, 210 Abbott Street . Doors 9pm / $10

SEE SPOT RUN - Loggerhead/Universal recording artist See Spot Run has earned steady success from touring and radio play, becoming the first Canadian independent rock band to break the top 10 with their hit single "Weightless". The band won the Canadian Broadcasters' FACTOR Breakout Song of the Year award as well as the Canadian Radio Music Awards Breakthrough Award for Most Airplay for a New Artist. With 5 videos in play on MuchMusic and MTV, the self-described band of hopeless romantics write melodic, hook-laden songs, entertaining audiences with their ass-kicking, highly energized live shows. See Spot Run's interplay of hooks versus jams versus sonic assault is influenced by bands from all over the map. From Police-era new wave, classic rock, late-'70s Canadian rock, to Radiohead, Beck and Prince, the band recognizes the importance of lyrics and great songwriting in striking a chord with listeners. http://www.myspace.com/seespotrun

The GLIM PROJECT is a full out rock band; a unique, hyper-energetic mish mash that cannot easily fit into one category in today's rock scene. Too progressive to get radio play, not progressive enough to be considered prog rock; too loud and aggressive for the hipsters, but not enough for extreme metal heads. Furious guitars loop around heavy percussive drumming, while galloping bass riffs cut right down the middle. Visually, it's quite a feast, as the band pours out every bit of energy they have in bringing their creations to life. Be sure to catch the band as they kick off their Canadian & state-side tour this evening! http://www.glimproject.com

TENANT is an aggressive, progressive, and impressive heavy rock quartet based in Vancouver. Recorded at the famed Mushroom Studios, they launched their much-anticipated debut CD "All My Favourite Bands Are Breaking Up" with a sold out show at the Media Club, bringing their high energy live performances back to local fans. Every Tenant show is an opportunity to be amazed and entertained; their extremely heavy grooves and catchy melodies leave audiences humming and headbanging long after Tenant leaves the stage. Not a band to miss! http://www.tenantband.com
