About

George Canyon

George Canyon had just about given up on a country music singing career when he auditioned for Nashville Star. Placing second in the 2004 talent search, the rugged, personable Nova Scotian has since had good reason to be glad he stuck it out.

After fourteen years of playing music in one form or another, and releasing two self-produced albums, George has struck gold. His independently released single “Good Day to Ride” reached number 12 and stayed in the top 50 for more than 20 weeks on Canadian country radio and won him a Canadian Radio Music Award in 2005. His Universal album One Good Friend and the singles “I’ll Never Do Better Than You”, “My Name” (which went to #1 on CMT) and “Who Would You Be” have done even better, and have helped win George honours from the Canadian Country Music Awards, the Music Industry of Nova Scotia Awards and the Junos (where he won for Country Recording of the Year, 2005). Home for Christmas, a holiday EP, and a CMT Christmas special followed the release of One Good Friend, along with a cross-country tour that saw George selling out all 36 shows. After his lengthy journey to “overnight success,” this Canadian cowboy has finally arrived.
