Event Description
International Women’s Day will be celebrated at Hermann’s Jazz Club with an all-female band led by Maria Manna honouring legends such as Ella Fitzgerald, Shirley Horn, Betty Carter, Carmen Mcrae and more.
Maria wants to celebrate noted Jazz women’s achievements and perform some of their most memorable songs.
She will be working with some of the Islands greatest female performers. Joining her will be Ashley Wey on Piano, Zoe Guigueno on Bass, Sherry Clayton on Drums and Monik Nordine on Sax.
“We are in tough times right now and when these women were breaking into the industry, they too had their struggles. Sharing their stories will remind us of their strengths and encourage us to stay strong, together” says Manna.
Along with some well-known songs like “Stardust”, “Lullaby of Birdland” and “God Bless the Child”, there will be some beautiful instrumentals with solo performances from Monik Nordine, Ashley Wey, Zoe Quigueno and trading fours with Sherry Clayton.
