Event Description

This February 9, 2012 Pepperpot - Victoria's Hypest Caribbean Radio and ENIGMATICA ENTERTAINMENT in affiliation with the Victoria BC Ska Society are proud to present Jamaica's dancehall diva TANYA STEPHENS for the first time on the Island. Tanya Stephens is one of the most entertaining and conscious dancehall artists in the world.

'Tanya Stephens is that rare outta order gal pickney who’s proved to the dancehall frat that she’s meant for more than decorating men’s rhymes with smooth background harmonies.' Gangsta Blues, Tanya’s fifth CD (VP Records), is raw, rebellious, and authentic, confirming her position at the top of the dancehall game with a vivid display of her wide-ranging musical imagination and keen wordplay. Whether spouting hardcore racy rhymes, insightful political statements, or crooning heart-tugging romantic fables, only gutsy power bolts come from the throat of this giant talent.

Stephens' most recent album "Infallible" offers much the same variety as her previous hit albums such as Gangsta Blues and Rebelution.

Tanya Stephens' first appearance to Victoria will be in honour of Bob Marley's 67th Jubilee Celebration. Remember to listen to Pepperpot - Victoria's Hypest Caribbean Radio that airs each and every Saturday from 6-7pm on CFUV 101.9FM or CFUV.UVIC.CA.

This show will be a completely empressive line-up including artists such as Kia Kadiri that has been referred to as the KRS Queen of Hip Hop on the Island + Ndidi Cascade, Skyla J, Elaine Shepherd & Tank Gyal.
