it has come to my attention that certain bands are being told they can't play at a certain venue due to dammage done to some gear. what kind of a scene are we creating here folks? i run the sound at thusrdays most of the time and when a band dammages a mic, stand or cable i fix it. if i can not fix it i will ask the band politely to replace it. no freak-out required, accidents will happen. any band who has a show which wrecks shit on a regular basis should bring their own mics and stands to avoid hassles. i was speaking to tolan about this type of situation and he told me about a show M.O.C. did in vancouver where synnuck destroyed a mic and cable while doing his houdini in bondage auto-erotic antics...at the end of the show the club paid them minus the cost of the busted gear and they had some difficulty paying for the ferry (and the bar tab i am sure , r.i.p. randy, hope the weather is nice). remember when you could see a great punk or metal show at o.a.p (r.i.p.), big fernwood, little fernwood, white eagle etc ...etc...? let' s not have any more venues shun a type of music and it's fans due to our lack of self control or communication skills . how could a club who books loud, hard and aggressive music on purpose knowing full well what the possibilities are be so lame about the outcome? none of this "mommy daddy he broke my tonka toy so he can't play in the sand-box any more !" bullshit , please. respect, communicate, and put the plywood cover on the sandbox so we don't have to play in all that cat shit.
see you at the vic-west bowl...or the pub.

Anonymous Fuck That. if you are such an idiot that you need to destroy somebody else's EXPENSIVE gear during your set, then you should pay for it. Most gear is owned by the Soundguy, not the club! Does that working stiff deserve to have his whole nights wage blown out the door by some dickhead with no respect? I think not! - Sat, 21 Sep 2002 3:45pm
